Information about Nominating a Candidate for Membership

Thank you for participating in the nomination process. Please review the steps below to ensure everything goes smoothly and the nomination progresses without delay. 

  1. Before you send your candidate the nomination packet and begin the process, please be sure they meet the minimum requirements for membership found on pages 1-2 of the nomination packet (below). If you aren't sure or have a concern, please contact us.
  2. Email your candidate's name, primary location or jurisdiction, and basic details to Chad Hill at executivedirector@tiaetl.org to begin the pre-screening process with the corresponding regional membership committee.
  3. Please allow 3 business days and then proceed with the following steps. If there is an initial question or concern from the regional committee, we will contact you during this time.
  4. Download and send your candidate the PDF prospective member packet (below). The requirements for membership and an overview of the process are included.
  5. You will need to provide a letter of sponsorship or endorsement. The letter will be an introduction to your candidate who may not be known to the Council or regional membership committee members. It should mention how you know them, and why you feel they would be a good addition to the Academy.
  6. Two additional members must submit a letter supporting your nomination.

When all the forms, materials, and letters have been received the review and voting process begins. There is a regional committee vote and a Council vote. The full process usually takes about 4 weeks.
